Kavli Discovery Fellows

In 2024, the Kavli Discovery Fellows program was established to support basic scientific research and foster collaboration between the Kavli Institute for Brain and Mind (KIBM) and the newly established Allen Discovery Center (ADC) for Neurobiology in Changing Environments at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. The program will enable innovative research projects at the intersection of neurobiology and marine biology.

2025 Kavli Discovery Fellows

 

Claudia Tatiana Galindo Martinez

Dr. Galindo Martinez is a coral biologist who will join ADC-NiCE to learn biomedical neurobiology concepts and tools and apply them to marine biology. She is currently a postdoctoral scholar at the Tresguerres lab (UCSD-Scripps Institution of Oceanography).

Benjamin Gastfriend

Dr. Gastfriend is a biomedical neurobiologist who will join ADC-NiCE to use his expertise in marine environmental biology and neurobiology, and gain new training in these areas. He is a currently a postdoctoral scholar at the Daneman lab (UC San Diego - School of Medicine; Department of Neurosciences and Department of Pharmacology).
